BNI Micro Credit Through PNM

A state-owned bank, BNI, is cooperating with state-owned investment firm PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) to disburse credit for empowering micro, small and medium enterprises as well as cooperatives to the amount of Rp300 billion.

BNI is cooperating with PNM because it does not have a micro credit channeling counter.

“So it must go through a third party,” said the BNI Director of Small, Micro Business and Syariah, Achmad Baiquni, in Jakarta yesterday.

For the first stage, BNI will channel Rp60 billion.

The BNI funds are to be channeled by PNM through its Micro Capital Service Unit (UlaMM).

The facility is used to support the capital of micro and small productive business with Rp60 million per customer.

PNM is targeting 550 UlaMM counters this year to add to 261 counters that have been operating in 1,000 districts in 16 provinces.

Besides channeling loans, UlaMM provides assistance for micro and small business entrepreneurs.

The free assistance consists of money management up to motivation.

“This assistance is what differentiates us from banks,” said the Managing Director of PNM, Parman Nataatmadja, on the same occasion.
